Double Degree

Double Degree

The Master of Remote Sensing Program offers an exciting opportunity for students to participate in a Double Degree Program between the Master of Remote Sensing, Faculty of Geography, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), and the Master of Geographic Information Science, The University of Queensland. This program allows students to gain international academic experience, enhance their expertise in geospatial policy and management, and earn two master's degrees from globally recognized institutions.

The Double Degree Program is more than a formal academic arrangementβ€”it is a transformative experience. Students immerse themselves in diverse learning environments, engage with international faculty, and collaborate on cross-border research projects. This exposure fosters intercultural competence, critical thinking, and a nuanced understanding of geospatial governance across different socio-political landscapes. Moreover, the program encourages students to explore emerging topics such as blue carbon ecosystems, urban informatics, and disaster risk reduction through the lens of remote sensing and GIS.

From a career perspective, graduates of the Double Degree Program are uniquely positioned to lead in sectors ranging from environmental consultancy and spatial planning to governmental agencies and international NGOs. The dual qualification serves as a testament to their adaptability, technical proficiency, and global outlook. With the increasing demand for geospatial intelligence in climate policy, infrastructure development, and natural resource management, alumni of this program are equipped to make meaningful contributions to science and society.
